Why is standby option grayed out




















To be absolutely sure you can try installing this: G chipset drivers LINK Install, reboot, then install this: G Graphics driver LINK After another reboot, if Windows 7 doesn't allow you to use Standby then it's a safe bet the integrated graphics doesn't support it. The unusual thing is that standby worked flawlessly in XP In that case, Windows 7 probably just needs you to install the proper driver.

However I don't even see drivers for G and Vista, let alone W7, I'm afraid you might be out of luck. If you want to use sleep mode that badly in W7, then installing a cheap, discerete video card and the appropriate drivers might do the trick.

The problem lies in the motherboard chip set. If not, then you will not be able to utilize the standby feature.

This should be a rare problem as most computers have these features. If the above tips have not fixed your problem there could be something else amiss with your computer. Yeah, I know, what does the Floppy Disk Controller have to do with it? I can't really answer that one but can tell you this is the fix from MS. Windows will remove that option if it experiences errors recovering from Standby twice.

A window usually pops up asking if it's OK to remove. The laptop battery can cause this, so can having less than 64mb of memory.
