Can i block someone from tweeting me
If you see a padlock symbol and no tweets then that's your answer - and it may well be that other people that don't follow you perhaps this artist can't see your tweets. You'd need to unlock your account to fix this, or ask the artist to follow you. If that's not what the problem was then Every verified account has these links on their profile page.
It used to unfurl the entire thing when you clicked on it but seems not to do that. So if you send two tweets in reply to someone's single tweet, when you click on their tweet to expand the thread you might only see one of your replies. See if you can find the 'Details' link somewhere in the expanded tweet, if you click on that you'll get taken to a page with more tweets on it - probably not all of them Twitter's still not showing the entirety of tweets for some reason - you may have to click on a few others to see other bits of the 'jigsaw'.
Dear Jo, thank you very much for the reply. My account is not private. I have also a very similar selected problem by youtube, and as I found out, this can be done by the "famous" youtube-google plus mashup which makes everything weirder and weirder Thank you once more, I will print your advice! I've had a strange experience of being a tweet that someone else has retweeted and wanting to retweet it myself, only to be told that I can't.
When I go to that person's page to follow them, the message says I'm blocked from their account. The worst thing is, I've never seen them before and my account is not so large that they would have seen me for any reason. Is that some sort of weird glitch? It happened to me twice before where it appears someone blocked me and I had only just discovered they exist. How strange.
I don't know the answer to that one either. It certainly sounds like a glitch. Although it's or used to be possible to block someone via a text message using the SMS system on your phone to send a command to Twitter I don't think many people do that to block other users, so it doesn't seem likely that someone just mistyped the name of someone else they wanted to block and got you instead. Typically people would have to click on your profile to block you and that seems unlikely if you've not made a nuisance of yourself.
Have you been able to favourite any of their tweets, or tried following them? Tried on Twitter. Sorry - don't know : Jo. Good chance they saw something you tweeted once and didn't like it so they preemptively blocked you.. What will happen in my case is I may see this new person and actually agree with them on something they tweeted and then I find out i'm blocked from retweeting.. Hello, thank you for the informative blog:- You may have already answered this, but I'm still unclear on it I understand that if someone I have blocked clicks onto my account they can see all my tweets.
However, will my tweets automatically show up on their tweets of everyone they follow timeline feed? In other words will they be able to see my activity automatically the same way my other followers can, so the only way they could see my tweets would be to click on my account name? Thank you. Good question. Actually I'm not certain.
Previously if someone blocked you it would be very difficult to see their tweet without logging out but more recently Twitter's changed this. I assume that they don't see your tweets either, in their regular timeline, and would have to come and click on your profile but it's difficult to tell what's going on with Twitter ;.
My friend Dragonblaze on Twitter said "Block cuts all contact to that person, and they can't follow you, nor will your tweets show up. On TweetDeck tweets disappear" - which sounds right to me.
Hello jo Your article did me good because i actually had blocked someone but it turned out that they could see my tweets so i had to make my twitter private But i want to know if i blocked or unblocked someone on twitter will they be notified that for example i've unblocked them?
They won't be notified in the sense that they don't get an email or a tweet saying you've blocked or unblocked them but they can probably work it out. They'll be able to interact with your tweets or not and possibly they'll also start or stop seeing your tweets in their timeline though I'm not so certain about that bit as Twitter keeps changing things. So, if I reply to a tweet that somebody posts who has me blocked a nephew who posts not so nice things , will he see my reply?
If they have blocked you then your tweet will not be delivered to their Notifications tab however this doesn't mean that he can't see your reply because if he looks at your profile then can see it.
So it won't be "shown" to him but neither will it be hidden from him. So both yes and no ;. Question: If someone retweets one of my tweets, and THEN I block them, will that retweet still show up on their page for all of their followers to see?
Hello - that's a very good question and I'm afraid I don't actually know what the answer is. It could go either way. If someone adds a tweet to Storify and it's later deleted it stays in the Storify story, so there's an argument to be made that what happens before a particular time will persist. Certainly once you block them any tweets they've already sent to you will disappear from your mentions timeline though won't actually be deleted. Anyone else know what happens?
Can someone still read the last DM you sent them after you blocked them. Just had to block a troll but I want him to read what I said to his annoying ass! I don't know for certain having never tested this. I think that if you've blocked someone they're instantly no longer following you - so they definitely won't be able to send you a DM both for being blocked AND for not following you but I don't know if they can still receive messages from you, it is possible I suppose.
As far as I'm aware if they've not blocked you then any message you send them will show up in their mentions timeline. Obviously you can both still see each other's public tweets just by looking at each other's profile blocking makes no difference here. Hi, I was wondering if I block someone on twitter and someone that they follow retweets one of my tweets will they be able to see it even though I've blocked them?
Yes I believe that's the case. The person that follows you and retweets you can either do so automatically with the retweet button' or manually by copying and pasting your tweet and adding RT or some other comment.
It's more obvious that the second version would show up on the timeline of someone you've blocked because it originates from someone other than you. I can see that it's less obvious that the first type would show up too, but I think, from a search of what people have been saying, that this is probably the case though it may depend on what app they're using to see Twitter. I've also tried out a few iPhone apps and found that, other than Twitter for iPhone, they all still show the profile of the test account that blocked me.
Possibly a future update of these apps will mean that they stop showing profiles of people that have blocked you, however I don't automatically update my iPhone apps and I'm sure plenty of others don't too so I'd not rely on that aspect of the technology. If a person blocked me, and I "quote retweet" his tweet through when I was searching our common friend's 'favorites', who will be notified of my retweet? The person who blocked me, or our common friend? However it is possible for them to see the tweet if they go looking for it or choose to view your tweets they can do this without unblocking you.
If you've included the name of your common friend, and they haven't blocked you, then they will get a notification about the tweet. Hi When i visit my ex girlfriend twitter profile in twitter android app, i see You are blocked from following But when i loged in to my twitter account and visit her profile by using chrom browser, i can see all information of her account such as list of her following and followers and her twitts and faviourts and others.
Is she blocked me or not? I have confused I'm not certain. Twitter for Android is one of the apps that 'respects' the block ie if someone has blocked you it says you're blocked, meaning you'd have to search or use another app or log out to view tweets.

To prevent it, make sure you have a profile picture other than the default egg-head: take the time to pick a nice photo of you or something that represents your brand. Additionally, take some time to write a short and informational bio that tells people who you are.
If you are only using Twitter as a way to promote your accounts on other Instagram or Youtube, you might be losing followers. If tweeting is not your thing, leave it aside and dedicate your time to your other platforms. When using Twitter, focus on entertaining the users that actually appreciate the platform instead of just talking about other websites.
Someone might block you based on personal choices and differences. For example, a colleague that knows you from work might not want you to see what they are tweeting in their free time. Alternatively, an ex could want to cut the online bond and have some privacy after a breakup.
Remember, every user is also a human being! You could change your Twitter name again once your account is private, and you've severed ties with him, as he wouldn't be able to access your tweets to get your new name. I have blocked someone and this person continues to find away to re-add himself or be on my followers list. How do I completely get ride of this person from trying to add me.
He is blocked and I send as spam. Thanks for your help. You can only block an account, not a person. If you've blocked someone they can just create a new account and follow you with that - I assume that's what you mean by 're-add himself' all he's doing is following you with a new account.
The only way to stop someone from following you is to make your account private lock it and then allow people to follow you on an individual basis. This is more work for you and it may not be possible to work out if an account is his or not. If it is the same account following you then I don't understand that because once you block an account it can't follow you though it can see your tweets.
It may be a glitch. If I privatised my account and I accepted her follower request before blocking her, can she still see my tweets? Probably not. However unless you know who you're allowing to follow you it's perfectly possible that she is using a different account to follow you with and so see your tweets.
And of course if someone following you shares your tweets by copying and pasting them then she might see stuff. Is it blocked when: you see that person'a profile and you are following them but they haven't sent any tweets yet? There is a person who I have talked to a little while who is a friend of a famous celeb.
I have talked to her and just said "Hi". And she wrote down some tweets. She has been following that celeb too who happens to be one of my favorite ones. They have been communicating a lot and I'd love to know how. I asked her.
But she I noticed she isn't following anyone. What does this mean? I've not heard of a situation where someone sends public tweets from their account but it says no tweets have been sent - I don't think that's necessarily a block, it seems more likely that they've just deleted those public tweets. If you can remember what was in them you might be able to search for the phrases, and her account name, on Google and see copies of the tweets that Google has kept in its cache.
It does depend how old the tweets are. If she's not following anyone then it would seem to be difficult for her to be communicating with this celebrity by the direct message system as both people have to be following each other in order for this to work. Is the celebrity person following her? Log out of Twitter and visit her account - does it look different? Can you see tweets only when you're logged out? More likely that she's deleting her tweets I think. Hey - it looks like you're right, I'd just not seen this before but I have now see the very top of the post, I've updated it.
Simply log out, or use a different browser - or even just search for their name, and you can see all of their tweets if you want to. Dear Jo. I'm still new in Twitter, and I got a question. Say that Andy and I follow you. But you don't follow us. Andy and I also do not follow each other. This is while Andy is logged-in of course. From what I understood from your article and the comments, the answer is: In those conversations btwn You and me, Andy would only be able to see YOUR tweets, but not mine, right?
Regardless whose profile you or mine that he's viewing. Andy won't see your tweets showing up in his timeline and he won't see mine to you because, by your action in blocking him, he's not following you and so won't see the conversation going on. However even if blocked he can see all of your tweets unless you make your account private. He can just search for 'frank' or frank on Twitter's search and all of your tweets will appear.
The ONLY way to stop someone from seeing your tweets is to make your account private, and even then it's imperfect - because someone could post a screenshot. They shouldn't but the technology permits it.
If we assume that Andy isn't particularly technical and hasn't read this blog post or others like it then it's entirely possible that he'll never see your tweets.
But I'd not rely upon this as a strategy :. Hello, I simply wish to block some people as I feel I really have nothing in common with them and so prefer that they were not following me at all.
However, at the same time I do not have any desire to hurt feelings or offend. They are not spammers. Is that a reasonable enough decision to block a person. As it is I am already not following them. I understand that twitter is a very public medium but such is my mixed feelings on this particular issue.
Hi Nicholas - you may block anyone you like for any reason. If you are not following them then obviously you won't see their tweets in your timeline, though they can still contact you. If you want to ensure that they can't contact you directly then blocking is a good way of doing that. Yes, Twitter is a public medium and they can still read your tweets even if you block them, they just can't contact you. Thank you for the considered reply and apologies for the flurry of missives until I realized what was happening technology wise.
This is my first foray into social media and thus far finding it an intriguing experience. Having tweets read not an issue seeing this is the nature of Twitter. I notice some people lock their accounts but for now that seems a little extreme to do. Thanks for the opportunity to make inquiries. Best regards. You're very welcome. I think the issue of what actually happens when you block or are blocked has confused a lot of people. It's not at all obvious or intuitive what's going on and I'd rather people didn't have any unpleasant surprises.
My account is private and the person I want to block has never been added to my list. For example, we both follow a certain celebrity, I blocked them but can still see their name on that celebrity's followers. If I block them and keep an active private twitter, can they see me on that celebrity's list?
I am blocked by someone who sells vitamin supplements and I use that person as a test case in these things. I can see the lists that they're a member of where people have added them to a list I mean. Even if it wasn't using that app I could see most of that information if I logged out and visited their profile. So 'yes' - this information is easily available. I'm not even certain that making your account private will help but I've not done that so don't know.
I think you will have to try it and come back to me :. Hey Jo! I'm just confused - what do you mean you can see the lists they are members of but not of who they are following. I don't know how I would check. Because my account is private and I blocked them, but I can still see them on mutual following lists. Do you know if there is anyway to contact twitter. Also, I blocked them - so will they be able to search me?
I can see slightly different things on Twitter. If I visit the profile of the person who has blocked me - but whose account is private - on Twitter. I can also see what lists they are a member of. On Echofon I can see all their tweets on their profile. If someone's account is private then I don't know if I can get any information about who they follow or who is following them, or what lists they're on. I suspect not. However anyone who might be a mutual friend of both you and the person you have blocked would be able to share that information with them.
In fact anyone following you would be able to pass on that info I think. You are presumably able to see them because their account isn't private. They may, or may not, also have blocked you but as we've seen that doesn't make it hard to see what lists someone's on. If your account is private then no-one can search or find your tweets unless they are following you.
However they can search for tweets that have been sent by other people to you eg searching for JoBrodie brings up tweets sent to me , which may give information away.
They will not show up in his Mentions or Interactions but he can find them easily either by looking at your page or by searching for anything sent to his name.
If he has no wish to see what you've written and is not searching for tweets sent to him and if other people don't point the messages out to him then he will not see them. This is interesting Joe, thanks :- Although one would admit that spammers are annoying, what I find even more annoying, even stressful lol is this new tendency on twitter where people do not simply block you, if they disagree, but rather reported you as spam, which will eventually lead to a suspension of your account.
Reasons for such a coward and despicable act varies Who knows but the person that hit the button? I have followers since about 2 months and I do not follow aggressively.
In fact I do not look for more followers and find amusing the race for followers.
